The sheltered bay has a designated launch site for ski boats with excellent off-shore angling, spear fishing and snorkelling. This family destination also offers guided walking trails around the fascinating wetlands and the Lake Bhangazi shoreline, humpback whales are seen on their northerly migration to Mozambique to calve and in summer loggerhead turtles come onto the beaches to lay their eggs. DirectionsFrom Johannesburg : Take the N12 to Witbank. Drive through Bethal, Ermelo, Piet Retief and Pongola. Continue along the N2 passing Hluhluwe. Keep in mind that there are roadworks either side of Pongola. Turn left to Mtubatuba and St Lucia. At Mtubatuba you will find the St Lucia turn-off to your left. Drive approximately 28 km to St Lucia. From Durban : Drive along the N2 to the North Coast. Drive past Stanger, Empangeni and Richards Bay. Approximately 40 km from the Richards Bay turn-off you take the Mtubatuba turn-off to your right. At the T-junction you turn left. At the second road on your right you will find the St Lucia turn-off. Drive approximately 28 km to St Lucia. |
