Thobeka lodge offers affordable self-catering accommodation. In keeping with the bush theme the huts are in the rural style with a lot of comfort thrown in. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable. The bathrooms are communal in true camp style, as is the kitchen which is fully equipped, including a washing machine to help you lose some of the dust from your travels. There are a number of barbecue areas which offer an additional cooking option. The Tree Bar has liquid refreshments and if you are still burning up hit the pool. Rooms have electricity a fan and are fully equipped. There are 6 double rooms with 2 single beds in each. The beds have a fitted sheet, pillow, duvet and a loose sheet. The Kitchen is fitted with, Fridge/freezer, deep freeze, washing machine, microwave, stove with oven and all cutlery, crockery, pots and pans. Bathrooms, Male and female ablutions have hot and cold water, two showers, two toilets and two basins in each.
The Tree Bar Boma has, bar fridge, music centre and bar with fire pit and barbecue facilities. Although the lodge is easily accessed with a normal vehicle, a 4x4 is needed
to get into most areas. You may bring your own 4x4, or we can get you around with ours. As towels are not provided so please provide your own. The lodge is self-catering so bring your own food and drink. Mosquito repellant is a must, and malaria profelaxis are strongly recommended. Our water is ok but you may not feel comfortable with it, so please bring your own to be safe. A torch is always a handy thing to have. The Kosi Bay area boasts a rich natural world heritage site, consisting of a magnificent lake system, extensive coastal forest reserve and the most stunningly secluded beaches imaginable. The leatherback turtle makes it's home here, and can be seen in season,
laying its eggs and a little while later, the young can be seen making a dash
for the surf. Both dolphins and whales are regularly spotted from the beach, and
for the fishermen, there is no place comparable. All the Cabins and Dorm Rooms share a bathroom and two kitchens, the Ensuite Double only shares the kitchens. We have separate mens and womens bathrooms, each with two showers, basins and toilets. In our two kitchens you will find everything you will need, including two fridges, a deep freeze, gas stove and all the cutlery, crockery and cookware. We also have laundry if you need to wash a few things.
