Umfolozi River Lodge & Bird Park is an ideal opportunity to escape from busy everyday life. Enjoy a variety of light meals and beverages at our restaurant.

Along the natural and unspoilt coastline, golden beaches stretch as far as the eye can see, lapped by warm blue waters from the Indian Ocean and bounded by the world's highest vegetated sand dunes. Whales and schools of dolphins frequent this spectacular coastline, also the natural breeding habitat for the leatherback and loggerhead turtles. These waters are renowned for big game fishing and the much sought after marlin are landed here. The warm Mozambique current attracts a kaleidoscope of colourful tropical fish that feed off coral reefs.

St. Lucia is one of the oldest Game Reserves in Africa and is situated on the East Coast of South Africa. The Greater St. Lucia Wetland Park is a saline system consisting of Five individual Eco systems. These eco systems function totally independent yet fully integrated with each other. This system was proclaimed a world heritage site in December 1999.

Informative crocodile exhibits portray the lives of these fascinating reptiles. Our aquaria hold examples of living organisms which are found in the mangrove swamps and rock pools along the sea and lake shores. All the African species of crocodile can be seen, namely the Nile, Long-snouted and Dwarf crocodile. Some of the largest crocodiles in the country can be found at the Croc Centre. The Crocodile Centre now hosts an impressive collection of snakes. A snake demonstration is given every Saturday afternoon at 14hOO. Come and see our unique Cycad Garden.

Have a look at our oldest living fossils. A large variety of birdlife (including the illlusive palmnut vulture) can be seen at the Centre. In the adjacent game park hippopotamus, crocodile, leopard and other game can be seen. Crocodile feeding for public demonstration takes place on Saturday afternoons at 15hOO (weather permitting) as well as on Wednesday evenings at 18h30. The evening feeding is only during the summer months.
