Combining an events facility with the retail, dining and entertainment elements of Africa's largest shopping complex, places 1 on 1 gateway at the forefront of innovative and creative 'eventing' and offers wedding and banquet guests and conference delegates a unique opportunity to experience an event with a difference.

1-on-1 at Gateway, a new business and social events facility capable of seating up to 1000 people.

1-on-1 at Gateway is situated on the first floor, overlooking the central fountain and palm boulevard of the spectacular centre. Gateway's range of food, beverage and entertainment facilities is available to conference delegates, while the neighbouring 168-room hotel and activities such as the 4x4 track, climbing wall and Wavehouse can be used for teambuilding events. The Barnyard Theatre, Ster Kinekor movie and Imax theatres offer further opportunities as venues. All together 1-on-1 at Gateway provides event organisers with multiple conference and event options.

Alan Vels, Managing Director of Three Cities says 1-on-1 at Gateway fills a gap in the Durban business and events market for a venue accommodating about a thousand

people. "We've worked on the idea of a 1-on-1 conversation, or interactive dialogue in creating the venue and this is reflected in the name of the centre, the furnishings and our service levels”, says Vels.

Durban interior designer, Ian Falconer has created a cutting edge interior through the use of charcoal grey and bright accent colours, with dramatic lighting effects in the entrance lobbies that consolidate the upmarket, contemporary feeling of this exciting facility. In addition to the latest conference equipment, interactive features include plasma screens for the display of corporate names and logos or for use as televisions.

Moving away from traditional conference centres, 1 on 1 Gateway houses 5 separate function venues within the main conference area.

CLIMATE
Summer - the temperature varies from 26 degrees at night to 32 degrees C in the heat of the day.
Winter - the temperature varies from 14 degrees in the day to 22 degrees. Night time temperatures are
considerably colder dropping to 10 degrees C. Temperatures drop dramatically just after sunset.

Directions

Directions from: Route1: From the airport you would take the N2 north until you get to the exit 12 (Board reads Gateway, La Lucia, Mount Edgecombe Ridge) off ramp. At the robots, turn right over Freeway. Take the Umhlanga Rocks Drive off-ramp. Turn Left. Carry on through one traffic circle. After the traffic circle, take the first road left into Medigate Drive. Turn left into Parking E. Route 2: Take M4 North towards Umhlanga Rocks Take Mount Edgecombe, Phoenix turn-off (exit 182) Take the Umhlanga Rocks Drive off - ramp (to Gateway) At the robots, turn right onto Umhlanga Rocks Drive Travel through one set of robots, continue through one traffic circle After the traffic circle, take the first road left (Medigate Drive) Down the road, turn left into Parking E at Gateway Theatre of Shopping (Parking E is directly opposite City Lodge) From the parking lot, walk towards City Lodge, turn left past Harley Davidson, past Primi Piatti Restaurant.
