Description

Zimbete Country House is situated on the Nicolson family's macadamia nut and sugar farm, just outside of Felixton in Zululand, South Africa. Nestled amongst a profusion of indigenous and tropical plants, the inviting, colonial home boasts magnificent views of the Umhlatunzi River Valley.

Guests enjoy indulging in the relaxing warmth of Zimbete, with it's well stocked wine cellar, luscious garden and swimming pool area, and the traditional African outside Boma, where many a glass of wine has been enjoyed as laughter and stories are thrown around the fire.

Zimbete Country House's head chef, Jonty Nicolson, places great emphasis on his four course gourmet dinners making use of all the fresh produce grown on the farm. From an oxtail and polenta starter to Nam Jim Calamari sprinkled with macadamias followed by fillet on a telaggio risotto, ending with a decadent homemade dessert, Jonty entices one’s senses creating an unforgettable mouth watering experience!

There are four en suite bedrooms (3 doubles and 1 twin) in the main house and one herb garden cottage, which are all air conditioned and beautifully decorated to suit the needs of any visitor ranging from tourists to business men.

Andrew and Anne Nicolson, together with their son Jonty and his partner Tanya, are well known for their welcoming hospitality and will gladly assist in advising guests on activities in the surrounding areas.

Using Zimbete Country House as a base, a number of exciting day trips are within one hours drive. From the boat rides at St. Lucia, the beaches of Cape Vidal, the cultural village of traditional entertainment in Ushakaland, the birding trails of the Dlinza forest to the magnificence of the Northern Natal Game Reserves. Zimbete is ideally located as a gateway to tracts of Northern Kwazulu's untouched wilderness.

Approximately 90 minutes from Durban and 20 minutes from Richard's Bay Airport, Zimbete Country House is easily accessible, yet the quiet tranquility it holds is a tonic for anyone simply needing to get away and relax!

Accommodation

Zimbete Country House is situated on a sugar and macadamia nut farm, adjoining the quaint mill village of Felixton. Guests are accommodated in the original farmhouse, which has 5 luxuriously appointed, air-conditioned en-suite bedrooms.

Each room is individually furnished, and reflects the graciousness of colonial living. Personalised service will ensure that guests will be served with refreshments whilst lounging around the swimming pool, or reading in the comfort of the lounge area.

An air-conditioned wine cellar houses an exciting selection of Cape Wines - read about the various wine estates and the wines they produce, in the monthly magazines and books, which are provided for your enjoyment and enlightenment.

* Travelling along the N2, turn off at the Empangeni-Richard's Bay-Ulundi off-ramp No. 327 * Travel towards Empangeni * Travel 2.3km and at the3rd set of traffic lights, turn left at Grantham Highway R102 * Carry on over the traffic circle and travel for 4.8km on the R102 in the direction of Mtunzini * Turn left at the Felixton turn-off * Drive up the hill and take the left fork of the Y- junction * Turn left at the first dirt road before entering Felixton village * Thereafter follow the ZIMBETE COUNTRY HOUSE signs
