Description

The house is built on many levels on the side of a hill, sheltered and shaded by a lush tropical garden. At the bottom of the slope is a small lake and stream, and a winding path takes the visitor through stands of indigenous trees.

In shades of baked brick, terracotta and burnished wood, the house exudes an air of cool colonial comfort. One almost expects to find Somerset Maugham enjoying a gin and tonic on the verandah!

The owners of Mtubatuba Bed and Breakfast are your hosts, Dewald and Ida Scheepers. They have managed to create
a haven of shady green splendour which is secluded and private and yet just minutes away from a major highway
and the crossroads to all the tourist attractions that Zululand and Maputaland have to offer. Only a small number of guests are accommodated at a time in order to provide
an exclusive yet homely atmosphere, with true value-for-money comfort.

Full English or Continental breakfasts - with local seasonal delicacies - are served on the verandah overlooking the palm-fringed swimming pool. Dinner is provided on request, and the food is always a sample of traditional South African cooking - with fresh herbs and vegetables from the garden. One can enjoy vegetarian dishes specifically coordinated to your tastes.
Dinners are served on the verandah with a soft ambience from fairy lights, candles and the illuminated garden.
The music of the night comes either from soft music or small creatures settling down for the night in the pond.

Nestling in the sugarcane hills of Zululand, is the town Mtubatuba. At the heart of Maputaland, a secluded haven of shady green splendour is found only minutes away from major routes, yet miles apart ... a place where explorers can discover the rich culture of the Zulu nation and marvel the world renowned Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve and the iSimangaliso Wetland Park. At the crossroads to all the major tourist attractions that Zululand and Maputaland has to offer, rests the awe inspiring, yet homely retreat; Mtubatuba Boutique Bed & Breakfast.
