DescriptionAlan Paton's words, written long ago, only touch upon the beauty of the Valley of a Thousand Hills as it still stands today. Nestled within these hills is Koinonia Conference Centre. Expanses of green lead on to comfortable rooms and communal places, lush gardens and a breathtaking view. It is here that people gather to experience "Koinonia," the Greek description of fellowship and communion. Established in the 1960's, Koinonia today is a comprehensive non-profit organisation administered by the Vuleka Trust: a board whose trustees are drawn from the Anglican, Methodist and Roman Catholic Churches. Koinonia has always welcomed all denominations and faiths. Koinonia is situated about halfway between Durban and Pietermaritzburg, two of KwaZulu-Natal's greatest cities. It is thus ideally located to offer cozy and affordable accommodation to the province, as well as to guests from further afield who would like to experience community in its warmest form. The Thousand Hills route is home to many cultural, culinary and artistic attractions - all within easy reach of Koinonia - and Durban's sunny, warm coastline, sports venues, theatres, restaurants and shopping centres are only a short distance away by car. The Centre will appeal to any organisations wishing to hold conferences, workshops or training sessions away from the workplace, in the rolling, serene reaches of the auspicious Thousand Hills. Venues Hilltop Thriving indigenous gardens, and welcoming staff greet you as you arrive at Hilltop: Koinonia's central reception, amenities and residential building. Emoyeni Emoyeni's accommodation sits on the edge of the hill, and from it, one may peer out across the Valley in all its splendour. Valley View Hills that stretch as far as the eye can see are visible from Valley View. The Poynton Centre The Poynton Centre combines modern architecture with conservative elegance, and stands as one of the most noticeable features of Koinonia's landscape. Its interior space is vast and perfect for large meetings. The Labyrinth In the quiet space below the Poynton Centre lies the Koinonia Labyrinth.
