DescriptionFalse Bay Park is situated along the Western Shores of False Bay which is part of Lake St. Lucia a recently declared world heritage site. Containing important marine fossils of both animals and coral which can be viewed in an attractive interpretive centre, the reserve also has a variety of habitats such as sand forests, thornveld and an open savannah.This variety provides excellent bird watching and game viewing and two self-guided trails have been established for visitors to enjoy these activities. Other popular activities are boating and fishing. Accommodation is provided in campsites along the shoreline overlooking the Lake. They are situated both north and south of Lister point. Dungandlovu Rustic Camp has four huts each equipped with four beds. Basic comforts include good drinking water, firewood and a deepfreeze, no bedding is provided. The viewing platform on the lakeside of the camp at sunset commands magnificent views of the Greater St. Lucia Wetland Park. Dugandlovu Rustic Camp has four four-bed huts with basic comforts including cold water showers (it rarely gets very cold), basic kitchen facilities including a deepfreeze, firewood and paraffin lamps. Guests need to provide their own bedding. A number of campsites with beautiful views across the lake are also available. NB Rates
A discount for children aged 12 or under is 50% of the standard tariff irrespective of the time of year or day of the week. Does not apply to Wilderness Trails, overnight hiking (eg in the uKhahlamba-Drakensberg Park), bush camps/lodges and tented bush camps/lodges. In the case of people over 60, and students, the discounts are applicable during weekdays (Sunday night to Thursday night) only, and also excludes public holidays, long weekends, and school holidays.
